Card-Making Class

Last Sunday I had the opportunity to finally meet the woman who I've been ordering Stampin Up card supplies from since I moved to NH in 2020.  Lorraine lives about 50 minutes south of me and when she offered this Sunday class I readily signed up.

Lorraine has the entire basement devoted to her crafting. Here is the table all set for the class.

I couldn't capture it all but had to admire all the sample cards including this one I plan to replicate twice for the 10 year birthday of granddaughter #1 and the 2 year birthday of granddaughter #4.

We made three cards together, two birthday cards and a Valentine.

The one below was my favorite.  Before I mail this one off to a birthday recipient I need to make some more.

Lorraine is on the right below.  I'm in the back holding a card over my head.

A good time was had by all.

Christmas Card Prep

I've started making Christmas cards.  I prefer making them to buying them.

Today I finished a batch of 15 cards.

This one was the proto type.  I didn't like the real red bow so found something closer to the color of the bird to use.

I used two punches for the wreath and stamped and punched the bird.

I have card bases for 15 more of these but will have to use other designer papers since I ran out of what I used for these.

I know its early to be doing this but we are heading to Barcelona Oct 1 for two weeks which is prime card making time.  In fact I'll be missing a cardmaking session at my friend's house and here at Vantage House while I'm away.

Getting Ready for Christmas

I am a card maker so for Christmas that means a lot of time needed to make the cards I will send.  Living here at Vantage House means even more cards to give out.

I've been busy, but I'm not done yet.  Here's what I've made so far.

This first set I spent this morning on.  It was much more detail than I thought but they were my own design.

I wanted to make wreaths so used two different sized circle thinlits to cut the wreaths out.  I used the holes from the centers to make two cards with Christmas bulbs hanging.

The birds were punched as were the ribbons.

These three cards I made this week.  I got the idea for the two on the right from Pinterest.

For this one I glued on the plaid strip stamped Merry Christmas then used a post it note to block that portion and stamped the trees.  The green snowflake paper is corrugated by embossing.  I had a lot of trouble with this because the paper disintegrated in the Big Shot while embossing.  Finally I reread the embossing folder directions which suggested breaking the paper fibers by curling the paper over the edge of a table.

The snowflake on here I embossed directly on the card.

This set I did at my Stampin Up distributors Stamp a Stack event for September.  I'm going to the October gathering tomorrow to make 12 more cards (3 of 4 designs).

I purchased the buffalo check stamp and made some more of this design.  My modification is on the right.

Do you send Christmas cards?

Coping

one handed typing is a pain so excuse the lack of capitals.

here's what I'm dealing with.

it's like a football on my arm.

one more week.

dan washed my hair for me today.  that felt good.

I have managed to make some cards too - sympathy.  we lost a dear exercise friend on Sunday.  she was 93 years young.  it came on very suddenly.  no good byes.

we met her granddaughter at the viewing last night.  she said she always had to call grandma in the morning early because otherwise she wouldn't reach her.  she was so busy.  her presence will be missed here at vantage house.

I have a granddaughter turning 1 year old next month.

Here's the pop up card I completed for her.

First two views are the card almost folded flat.

I've Been Busy!

I enjoy making my own cards for all occasions.
Recently I learned from a video how to make Pop-up Box cards.

So much fun!
