Wednesday's Walk

Heading out Wednesday morning for my weekly walk.  This time I increased my distance.

My neighbors crab apple tree is loaded.  Granddaughter #2 likes to eat these.

Looking back at the house the maple tree has some color but the leaves coming down are crunchy and brown.

Here's a muted colored tree quite a contrast with the tiny one in front of it.

The milkweed is a lovely yellow along the roadside.

One of a very few chicory flowers.

The colors in this field are muted now,

except for the purple asters.

Sumac on the other side of the road.

Here's one of the barns I pass by.  Notice the yellow equipment on the left? It's dismantling the old silage pit.  Not sure what is planned for the barn.  It's been closed where it once was open to cattle pens.

This barn is across the street and part of that same property.  You can't see it here but the siding on the opposite side has been removed.

Another barn on the next farm.

More asters.

As I walk I see deer pathways headed up the embankment.  Here's one of them.

I pass my previous turn around spot

and arrive at this point where I have a good view of the flat.

Heading back here's another house along this road that's vacant.  Not sure the history here.

With the phlox in bloom here I realize this must have been a garden area.

This climbing vine knows it's Fall.  I think it's a Virginia creeper but could be poison ivy.

It's a muted Fall this year.

A better view of the dairy farm.  Those mountains in the background are part of a large hunting preserve.  We call it Corbin Park.  It has quite a history including a connection to saving buffalo to repopualte Yellowstone National Park.  Here's what Wikipedia says about it.

The modular house is being worked on.  I couldn't tell if the tires were removed but I imagine they were.

My final stretch.

Thanks for walking with me.  We did 2.5 miles today!  With all the stops it was one hour total out and back.
