New Plants

Tom of Backroad Traveler gifted me some plants that arrived last week.  Last month I had commented on a plant in one of his photos and he identified it for me.  When I went looking I couldn't find it in the local Gardeners Supply nursery so settled on a hosta instead. When I wrote about it, he offered to send me the bugloss.  When they arrived Thursday of last week the two granddaughters from Buffalo were here so I just put the three plants plus three others he included (a hosta, a coral bells, and a ginger plant) in the raised bed and kept them watered.  These are shade plants and though they wilted some in the direct sun they survived.

This morning early before the heat got too high I placed them and planted them in the Sculpture Garden.

Here's the hosta.

The three bugloss I kept together rather than spreading them out in the bed.  I think they will have a better effect this way.

The coral bell or heuchera.

And the ginger.

Thank you again Tom for being so generous with the plant gifts.

This bed has seen a lot of new plantings this year, besides the gifts from Tom, two gardeners in town gave me plants which went here too.

Now early on another morning I must tackle that span of green in the back of this bed - weeds!
I haven't planted anything there though walking onions that I tossed there tried to grow. Now must deal with weeds.
