Many years ago, in fact last century, I was on the flower committee at the church we attended. Teams of two were responsible for purchasing and arranging the flowers for the Sunday service. We'd go to a local florist which offered buy one get one free on Saturdays. I was teamed with a woman older than me who was well versed in flowers. I wish I could recall her name. Anyway all this build up to say that she spoke of flowers having faces. So as we arranged them we made sure the faces were in their best view.
As I walk around my garden I am greeted by so many faces at this time of year and I fondly remember my flower arranging teammate.
