What a New Year Beginning!

I could be referring to what our idiot President has done but it's a given that it's a mess.

No, I'm upset by what we discovered this morning.

Dan gets an email whenever our Visa card is used.  I get the one for Discover. This morning he got notice of a $1 charge to GooglePay.  I made the call wondering if this was for extra storage on this blog. The service agent didn't think it was a concern because it was likely some charge we hadn't realized we'd agreed to.  She did refer it to claims as a disputed charge.  No need to cancel the account she assured me.

Then this afternoon the same charge shows up two times along with a $3000+ charge to Microsoft! Not us making that purchase.

I got on the phone to call the claims department and was put on a long hold.  After a bit Dan decided to call the number on the back of our cards and he got through so I hung up on my call which was still on hold after 20 minutes.

The agent Dan spoke with took his information and canceled the account.  New cards will come in the mail.  She said not to link the new account to anything until after the new card arrives as those links on ApplePay and Mobile may be compromised.

This is not the first or the second time this has happened with Visa.  After the last time we shifted to PayPal when we could and linked the other credit card to it.

Here's the mystery though.  All the previous incidents were after shopping at Home Depot.  Guess where I was on Friday to get birdseed and a new suet feeder? Yes, Home Depot.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.

How often does this happen to you?
