Birds of Wakulla Springs State Park

These are some of the birds we spied from our boat trip through the Wakulla Springs in January.

Wakulla Springs State Park, Florida

Thirty minutes south of Tallahassee is Wakulla Springs State Park.  As the brochure states its "a 6000 acre wildlife sanctuary quietly hidden in Spanish moss-draped Florida woodlands ... The heart of the park is the world famous Wakulla Springs.  Cool water flows from majestic springs to create the Wakulla River, one of the last pristine rivers in Florida."

The park has a lovely lodge. Even though we weren't spending the night there we made ourselves comfortable in the lobby.

And had a wonderful lunch in the dining room.

There's even a spot to swim though you must watch out for alligators.

Dan tried it but the water was too cold to get all the way in.

Below is a photo I took from the boat tour.  More on that in another posting.
