Some Good byes and Some Hellos

I had to be up and out early to the garden this Monday morning. We are under a heat advisory for the next two days but I needed to mulch three small beds and the rock garden where I’d edged last week. Once that job was completed I stopped to check what flowers have said good bye for this year and which ones were saying hello.

Humidity is heavy it shrouds the hill behind the house.

This foxglove gift plant ended up staying in this pot where I first plopped it. It likes it and now is saying hello with blooms.
In the deck garden the lupine are saying good-bye are are the peonies.

But behind them are the lilies loaded with buds getting ready to take pride of place.

And the daylilies will strut their stuff too very soon.  It will be a race between the types of lilies as to which will bloom first.

A volunteer sunflower has a bud forming.

And these daisy varieties are loaded too,

The pots hopefully will bloom all summer.

In the rock garden this daylily is likely to be the first.

It certainly wins something for height.

The newest plants in that garden

are opening their blooms.

And in the maple garden the pansies continue to smile.

Remember my sickly rhododendron?  It's put out some healthy looking leaves.  This is one of the beds I had to mulch this morning.

And here is one of the other ones with my strawberry jar full of impatiens.

A final bloomer is this coral bell with the tiniest of flowers opening.

Now for a tour: The hosta garden.

and the maple and sculpture gardens.

That's it for today.
