Loving These Color Combos

Don't you just love this time of year?

The colors are just so lovely.

Let me show you.

On the south side of the pond the weigela is in bloom.

The one lilac to its left is also blooming but not as profusely and the purple Siberian iris are just opening here.

The ostrich fern is a soft green with the Joe Pye weed sprouting in front.

Forget me nots with pink creeping phlox.

These Siberian iris on the east side of the pond are farther along.

Look at these three colors of green.

Sedum of different types loving their spot.

Along the glen the hosta and ferns in complimenting green.

In the perennial garden the deep purple iris have opened.

More Siberian.

A lavender shade to these iris.

The only heron I keep around is this stone one watching over the birdbath and miniature blue hosta.

The morning light was yellow as I recorded what was blooming on this day in May.

The first of the irises with others showing promise of future lovely blooms in the weeks ahead,

These Johnny Jump-ups are volunteers growing next to the perennial garden compost bin.  I even transplanted some of them to other spots.  I hate to pull up something flowering at this time of year so there are other flowers not where they were ever planted.

Lilies of the valley outside Dan's study door.  After I took this photo I picked all that were blooming and brought them in (see below).  They have such a heavenly scent.  The ones that grow outside the front door won't bloom for another week or more because of the northern exposure there.  These get the warmth of the sun on the stone wall.

The Japanese maple is such a lovely shade of red with its new leaves.

Here is the sign I ordered from Etsy DotTwoDotDesigns to commemorate the front garden in my Mom's memory.  It came out lovely.  We had a thunder storm come through at noon time so that's why there are beads of water all over it.

And I'm enjoying these flowers inside now too.

Friday Shots

A single tulip is blooming.  I had purchased these tulips last spring and when they were done blooming, I transplanted them into the garden.  There may be one more to bloom in a day or two.

I have lots of forget-me-nots but this one is on the hill with a southern exposure so it's in bloom now while the others have yet to set their buds.

All the ferns are sending up their fiddleheads.

Down at the creek near the driveway the skunk cabbage is in all its glory.

Looking upstream there's not as much of it.

I love how the sun shines through the leaves.

The owl house remains empty.  Maybe next year.

Almost time to harvest some bok choy and lettuce.

What's Up?

You ask "What's up?"

Daffodils all over the yard are mostly blooming.

This by the pond (name escaping me).

Hostas farthest along are against a wall on the east side under my study window.

A's garden is mostly done.

Some doors are up.

The vegetable garden has peas up as well as spinach and other lettuces.  Sorry no photos.
