Daughter Emily called shortly after 8 o'clock Saturday morning to suggest I accompany her to view a local garden open to the public at 9. Of course I said yes. It was a short walk from my house and the home of a local garden expert and weekly garden columnist. His home is a former Creamery associated with the sign we found in our barn. One day we'll have him here to see the sign.
But on to the gardens. No first look at this snapping turtle we walked past on the side of the road.
I was inspired.

P.S. I've updated my Books Read 2021. I've read 6 more books since last update. Currently have 4 books started - too many. One is for book discussion later this month "Caste"-well written and very thought provoking. Another I started yesterday is an earlier one in series from William Kent Krueger. The other two I may not continue, haven't decided.

...I love seeing other people's gardens. The climbing hydrangea in photo 13 is impressive, I planted one yesterday that will cover an old tree stump!
The blue bird bath is unusual. A stand out feature. It's always good to have a look at other gardens to gain some inspiration.
I bet you got inspiration for your own garden plans and home from these beautiful one. I especially like the plantings because they aren’t so manicured and curated, more like a riot of SUMMER. And, what a fun day to share with your daughter.
Oh I love to visit gardens too, and that reminds me to schedule a visit to our Arboretum soon. Many beautiful flowers...and what a great bird bath too! I wonder how birds see that color!
Beautiful gardens, thanks for sharing your photos. The blue bird bath is gorgeous. I read the first of the detective series by Krueger and want to read more, plus I think his Ordinary Grace is an outstanding novel.
Ooh, looks like a blue poppy. I love garden tours although I come home very dissatisfied with my own. I echo Terra's assessment of "Ordinary Grace."
What a fabulous garden. Loved the peony. I'm not sure what number book I'm on, but finishing one that I've really enjoyed, The Rose Code by Kate Quinn.

I always enjoy seeing gardens and especially when it is not myself who has had to do all the work to maintain them. This one definitely looked very well tended, Marcia. The blue bird bath was very eye catching too and hope you locate one for your yard.
