National Cathedral

Some inside photos of the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.

A friend and I visited there on Wednesday of this past week to attend a tour and tea.  We arrived early and enjoyed exploring inside after we had a light midmorning snack.  It was a rainy day so no photos from outside.

In 2011 the Cathedral sustained considerable damage outside from an earthquake we had here.  Millions of dollars of repairs are needed.  We could see the damage from the 7th floor observation level.

Since this is a national treasure how appropriate to link to

Auction Results

Today is pick up day of the items sold in the auction.  Everything sold which is amazing.  Now we'll see if its all picked up.  If it isn't the buyer forfeits the purchase price.

MaxSold staff will be here to track who picks up what.  Small stuff gets picked up first.  Buyers bring their own boxes and wrapping paper.  The driveway is tricky so they have buyers meeting at a school nearby and coming over here when directed to.

Some of our neighbors and some of Dan's staff were winning buyers.  It really helped to advertise this locally which is what MaxSold suggested.  They advertised too in lots of media.

I highly recommend this auction service if you are faced with moving and downsizing or have an estate to liquidate.

Tuesday Treasures #15 - Centennial Lake

I heard on the radio this morning that we have broken the record for consecutive days with measurable precipitation and the problem is the number of rainy days in a row aren't coming to an end.  The forecast is at least until Sunday for there to be rain every day.

I needed to get out and walk so I intended to drive to the Mall in Columbia but then while on the road decided to take myself to Centennial Lake despite the drizzle.  I had a sweatshirt and a rain jacket and pulled out an umbrella.  There were few people there but many were attired as I was.  The rain was light, more like spitting and when the trail was under trees the leaves acted as umbrellas.  The trail around the lake is 2.5 miles and it felt very good to walk.

I didn't have a camera along except for my cell phone.  Snapped these few not so great photos of the treasure that is Centennial Lake-a manmade lake the center of Centennial Park.

When we move back to Columbia I will be closer to this lake but even better there will be two smaller lakes within a short walk from my home.  No need to get into the car to get out and walk.

Update on the Auction.  It's interesting to see what's popular and what's not.  Last I checked no one had bid for my Amish collection so if it doesn't sell I guess it was meant to come with me.  (I told my husband that and you should have heard his groan.)  His artwork both glass, oil paintings and woodworking are not hot items either which is disappointing.  Auction house says the last hour is the busiest.  That will be Thursday evening.

Auction Begins

Our move to Vantage House is getting closer.  In order for that to happen we have to jettison a lot of stuff.  We’ve contracted with MaxSold.com, a cross between ebay and Craigs list to do this for us.  The chore for us was to put things into lots of similar things. That has been done, the photos taken and cataloged and now the auction has started.  It will run through next Thursday.

The auction can be accessed at MaxSold.com, then enter zip code 21244 and look for the Windsor Mill, MD auction.  All the details for bidding and pick up here on the 14th are there.

Please spread the word to family, co workers, neighbors or anyone who you think may be interested.  You may even put it on FaceBook if you like.

Thanks in advance for your help.
