July Blooms

This is the day we arrive in NH and take position of our new apartment.  No time yet to blog so

I'm going back in time to repost blogs from my past.

The stargazer lilies opened this morning!  I've been patiently waiting for this day.  Soon their fragrance will fill the perennial garden.

But they are not the only bloomers at present here are some of the others who are adding colors other than green to my gardens.

In Mom's Garden (formerly the Front Garden):

black-eyed susan

hydrangea - a smaller version of itself after the hard winter

lamb's ear

crepe myrtle

In the Pond Garden:

In the Glen Garden:

In the Perennial Garden:

As I was posting this, a heron landed in the backyard directly outside my window.  I grabbed my camera but my movement startled it and it flew off.  I wonder if its looking to come gold fishing in my pond?

June Garden Tour - The Perennial Garden

Welcome to the Perennial Garden, the last stop of the June Garden Tour.

I am so happy to have the pathways redone in flagstone and river rocks.  It's such an improvement. 

The clematis has climbed almost to the top and is blessing us with flowers.

The creeping thyme is thriving among the rocks and blooming too.

First day lilies.

Astillbe starting to show color.

Sundrops.

An Asian lily blooming.

Knock out rose loaded with blossoms but needing some help.  The rain has drenched the blooms and the weight of them has bent them down.

Hosta are loving the moisture we have had.

I may even have liatris blooms this year.

Project Completion!

It sure does feel good to type that title.

With the incredible strength of Dan the project was completed this afternoon.  He surprised me last night and finished the pathways that I had not gotten to.  I was out at book club so that was quite a very nice surprise.

Today then he would fill the wheelbarrow and push it to the spot where I then could shovel the gravel out where it was needed.

We still have gravel left so it is being used to build up a berm to correct the swale along the driveway.

Dan removed our rain barrel that was rotting out.  We built a catch basin.

The stones need a good rain to wash them off.  Some were coated with clay.  They came from Southern Maryland.

Next project is to have the cattails removed.

Muscles are stiff and sore.  But nice to have this major project completed.

Project Update #2

Spent the entire day moving gravel.  Maybe I moved 2 tons but pile still huge.  I went light at first so the first spokes of the pathways will get more once the rest has been put down.  Here are some progress shots taking over the course of today during my frequent breaks.

The patches of green are the creeping thyme patches that I want to spread.

Two spokes yet to do plus area right off the deck.

It will wait till tomorrow.
