We purchased a new TV last month. Ours was 21 years old! We'd purchased it in 2005 when we moved into The Lodge - the house we built. It was state of the art then. We used it with cable and Tivo so we could record old movies from Turner Classic Movies and football games and watch them at our leisure.
But times have changed and we realized we were watching a lot of the same movies. Friends would talk about other shows and movies, but they're only available with streaming. Finally we decided to cut the cable so to speak, embrace streaming, and acquire a new TV.
As I said we got it in July, but what with grandkids here the only thing we watched was a Mario movie with one granddaughter. With family out of the house now we've started exploring. We got Peacock, Apple TV, and Netflix with our wifi service with Xfinity and I am donating to the local PBS station so we have access to PBS. We still have a landline with xfinity, but cable is done!
We are looking for recommendations of good shows to watch. So far we've found Ted Lasso on Apple TV (hooked on that one quickly) and last night watched the first episode of Nordic Murders on PBS.
What are you watching?

Ps the tea place is the silver fountain inn Dover NH.
Can't help you. We're not watching anything these days. In the past, we've stuck to older British series like Foyle's War or Peaky Blinders or Vera or Shetland.
We stream Amazon Prime and PBS - Prime has featured shows from Acorn and Britbox. I like Pie in the Sky (an oldie), The Chelsea Detective, I guess all kinds of mysteries. The good thing is Prime suggests shows to me, lol.
Congrats on the new TV and the new streaming channels. We have Netflix and Amazon Prime and enjoy them very much, but I have my eye on Britbox now.
...our relatively new TV hasn't hooked us on much more than PBS.
We don’t have Peacock. We have had Apple but not right now. In addition to Netflix, we have Prime, Acorn, Britbox and Crave (a Canadian stream.)
We watch a lot of PBS shows. We like Miss Scarlett, Grantchester, Endeavor, Magpie Murders, etc. We also really enjoyed Remarkably Bright Creatures with Sally Field.
I don’t know how old our TV is but it must be close on twenty years. I am not sure what we will do if we need to replace it. We watch so little it seems hardly worthwhile, but I would miss BBC Earth. Before we bought this one we were six and a half months without a TV and barely noticed it was not there. We watch Jeopardy every weekday night, but other than that not much at all. It is never turned on before Jeopardy which comes on here at 7:30 pm and is frequently turned off right afterwards. For a while I watched CNN during one of the myriad Trump crises, but I quickly turned that off. I can’t believe how many commentators can hash and rehash the same event, ad Infinitum. Let me continue with my nature walks and my books!
