Another ornament from a trip. This time it was a Roads Scholar trip to St. Louis. It included a ride on the Mississippi on a paddler wheeler in Hannibal, MO. We also had a tour of the Mark Twain Museum and Tom Sawyer’s house.
Before this trip I asked Dan “Are we going to learn too much?” He’s teased me about that ever since. What I meant was whether the trip would involve too many long winded lectures. As it turned out there was only one!

Today is homeschooling day. Granddaughter #1 is here for her once weekly day with me while Emily is at the office. She’s working on her writing assignment now, nope she’s back at the puzzle. She claims she finished her paragraph. Must check it out.

Beautiful blog
Please read my post
I appreciate that you went to Hannibal MO...as a town which gave birth to Samuel Clemmons/Mark Twain. One of my favorite authors, and I visited the town several times. That ornament is really a good reminder from your trip!
I have wanted to see Hannibal, and Cairo, I'll, but don't think it will happen. Lots of history there!
I admire you for doing the home schooling. I doubt I would have the patience now.
How very nice that you look after your granddaughter one day a week. Your comments made me smile as did your question to your husband earlier. Your ornament is lovely
The trip sounds great. I've been to St. Louis twice for conferences and managed sight seeing, but alas didn't get to Hannibal.
On the subject of the Mississippi paddle boats, you might enjoy Lee Smith's The Last Girls. It's a reunion of college roommates on a trip down the river and is a wonderful group of characters, shown in Smith's very readable style.
A fun post and a lovely memento. Have a good week 😊
That is another nifty ornament.
