Enough!

Another school shooting with countless deaths and tragedy facing families.

Enough already!

My mother was a strong proponent for gun control and to honor her I took the only action I could.

I emailed both of my senators: Senator Maggie Hassan and Senator Jeanne Shaheen  and my Congressional Representative, Annie Kuster. I want to know where they stand on gun control and banning assault weapons. I want them to know where I stand!

I challenge those of you reading this who live in the US to do the same. It's the least you can do.

Excellent beginning action. Now if only...

While I do not disagree, Marcia, another big issue that is just as vital is mental health. There are so many mentally unstable individuals who remain in need of some sort of help and unfortunately most go without receiving any.

Whilst mental health is a huge issue currently surely that's even more reason for guns not to be accessible.

Exactly right!

...I'm afraid that the carnage will continue.

Often the attackers were known to authorities beforehand and one difficult aspect is that mentally ill people often refuse treatment, or stop treatment.

I'm so with you. I'm sorry our dates don't work for NH and hope we'll meet up another time. Have a great visit.

This is all so tragic. No 18-year-old needs that kind of gun. I completely agree with your stand. Good for you for calling your representatives.

Well done for making your feelings known to your representatives. It's very difficult for someone from the UK to have any idea why anyone would want to have a gun.

Good for you!

It seems to me there is a sinister connotation to the slogan on your licence plate right now, "Live Free or Die". Sadly, New Hampshire has the weakest gun laws in New England and the 8th weakest gun laws in the United States, manufactures more guns than any other state, and 42% of homes have weapons. That all seems terrifying to me.

Well done!

I apologize for commenting twice, but I have been reading a lot about the issue of mental health. Without getting into the question of mental instability versus the number of lethal weapons easily available, it seems to be a common theme that more needs to be done to address mental illness but funds are not allocated (take it from the military, I say), but surely if mental health treatment is not being funded, that seems to be the strongest reason of all to deny access to weapons designed to kill people in rapid fashion. Any weapons for that matter.

I totally agree. Enough of the damn guns. No other country in the world has this problem....I’d happily pack up and move overseas if it was feasible...for now I plan to get out of the US as often as I can...

NO one, mentally stable or not, needs guns like that. I'm a prek teacher and i pray CONSTANTLY now for my agency/school to stay safe. It's scary times....sadly, until people turn their hearts towards God, the evil will remain rampant.....and until politicians make better laws and stop accepting monies from the NRA. such a sad world we live in. I did a little research and the USA in recent history has had 288 school shootings whereas Switzerland and The Netherlands have had 0. We are clearly doing something wrong.
