End Gun Violence

Today is Wear Orange Day to End Gun Violence.

Why you may ask?

Well, look at these graphs that were in this article today in The Washington Post.

We are not even half way through this year and more people have died from guns than died on D-Day!

And look how we compare to other countries since 1990.

We must elect a president and members of congress who are committed to standing up to the gun lobby to reduce access to guns.

Oh, my. Look of all the gun violence in Chicago alone.
Please know that all those statistics can be and will be manipulated by whoever presents them.
Do some research into how many times the shooters have been taking psychiatric drugs (oh, that's right, you won't hear about this most of the time! But it is an epidemic - too many are drugged instead of receiving real help, which takes TIME and EMPATHY).
Look at countries who limit their citizens' access to guns. People who are bent on violence will use knives, vehicles, whatever they can to carry out their evil. Good people with guns will save more lives than those lost to criminals, who will always find a way to get guns anyway.
I doubt if you will take any of this seriously, because it looks like your mind is made up, but I hope it will give you food for thought.

I entirely agree with your sentiments and wish you luck with this mission.

Jo you say "Good people with guns will save more lives than those lost to criminals, who will always find a way to get guns anyway." How is that working for us here in the US? If that were true then as guns have proliferated then gun deaths should be dropping. That isn't happening!

It's a plague. Maybe after the next elections step will be taken? I think it's a long road though.

I hate to be pessimistic, but the gun lobby is so powerful. It doesn't seem to bother lawmakers that we have so many gun casualties in this country. Every time there's an incident, you get calls for thoughts and prayers. Then nothing. It's so frustrating.

It's a sad state of affairs. I would be frightened living in the US.
