Poor Prognosticator

Saturday, a chilly day, the ground hog showed up.  Now according to my calendar it's still winter.  Don't know why it was awake or what it found to eat.  I had noticed that an area under the deck had been dug out but attributed it to the raccoons mischief.  Now I think it was the ground hog digging itself out from underneath there, but a bit too early.

Here's where I saw that something had opened up a hole under the deck.

Here's the ground hog.

The birds know its not Spring yet.

The fox trots through each morning.

And now today we have a 4 inch snow fall.
No more signs of the ground hog.

Just the birds madly feeding.

My goodness, fancy having a groundhog under your deck! He's probably gone back underground now. Lovely shots of the birds, and I particularly like the last capture of the Cardinal, and the one of the Woodpecker, Finch, and Nuthatch.

Breathtaking - it's a constant battle to keep the ground hog out from under there. The deck is just one step off the ground so it loves to burrow under.

Eileen - birds incredibly hungry wit this snow fall which I'm sure you got too.

Nette - thanks for stopping by.

We had a groundhog live under our garden shed one summer. It was right beside our garden but he didn't get in the garden at all. He left in the fall.
The cardinals and red-bellies are always a joy to see but I must say I am envious of you fox visits. :)

We have a similar, low deck. No telling what's under there. Love seeing the groundhog and the fox.

Your very own spring predictor!
Love the bird photos, too!

Once we had a porcupine living under our deck. I think the groundhog decided to go back to sleep! You have lovely landscapes there in MD. I lived for a time in Havre de Grace.

More fox photos to come. He/she came back today and found some things to eat in the snow while I captured the moment.

Great variety of shots! Maybe the groundhog needed a midwinter snack and has gone back to bed! :-)
