Bird Watching Continues

I can't help but watch the birds.  They have always intrigued me.

My earliest memory of birdwatching is in grade school.  My brother and I would watch out a window as we had breakfast.  We kept track of the ones we saw and my love of birdwatching had its start.  I don't keep a list as I did back then but if I see an unusual one I look it up.

The cardinals are paired up around here now.  I captured this pair out the window enjoying the buffet of tulip poplar seeds.

I took a break from sorting here at the house to view the spring flowers at Brookside Gardens, a free garden in a local county park.  These tulips were as beautiful as any at Longwood Gardens in PA where you have to pay a hefty price to view them.

Sorting More Small Stuff

I've been doing more sorting.

Below are some of the few things I will take with me.

I wrote about my Amish figures here but know I can't take them with me - no room.

I've selected this pair to keep.  Daughters may each take a pair.

I have had a collection of rocks in a printers tray.  I got the idea to dump the shells our of this ginger jar lamp and add my rocks.  That worked but it's also very heavy!

We are selling the stuff we can't take through an online auction site called MaxSold.com

I am gathering like objects together to be lots.

This hutch hopefully will find a home with one of the daughters, if not it will sell on the auction.

I have two boxes going, one for each daughter of books I want them to have.

Of course they have the final say if they want to take them home.

So I continue to sweat the small stuff as our tenure as stewards of this house and land comes to an end.

Books are Treasures

Books are treasures.  I love to read and despite all that must be done to prepare for this big move I don't give up my reading.  Yesterday, as I had to be out of the house while it was inspected, I took myself shopping for a bit then to a park with a cup of tea and a muffin to finish the last book listed below.  I have my book club coming for supper on Friday night for the very last time at this house and I must skim re-read the book I selected for us "Growing Up" by Russell Baker.  Then its on to a very long tome on Hamilton that is the May book club selection.

Here are some recent reads that I offer as recommendations and I don't recommend a book that I don't like so count these as good reads.  There are real treasures!
