Hot!

We have no AC so window shades are down, curtains closed to keep what coolness we had overnight inside.

No gardening in this heat.

The bugs are bad too - black flies and noseeums. I was outside yesterday morning watering without my usual bug repellant because it was only going to be a short time.  Mistake! I have a nasty bite on my shoulder.

We were awakened last night with a terrific boom of thunder.  Quite the storm went through dumping a good amount of water.

I read the other day that we are still in drought status because of the status of the aquifers.  Rains like we had last night help the ground but don't do much for aquifer.  Don't quite understand what's needed for the aquifer to come back to normal.

A mostly inside day here to stay out of the heat.  I do have a massage appointment at 3:00 which will take me out.

Biggest decision of the day will be what to make for dinner that won't add to the heat.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Summer heat and cooking are not best buddies.

We eat a lot of cold chicken and salad and fruit in the summer as well as meals that don't need a lot of effort!

Bug bites are horrible. A humid day here too. I don't know whether this will appeal to you but I will be fixing a Ploughman's lunch. It usually has some kind of crusty roll, a few slices of whatever cheese we have in stock, a simple salad on the side, maybe a pickle thrown in and a spoonful Branston's chutney. If you want to see what one looks like you can go to this address.

Hot here too, I made a salad--bed of greens with lemony olive oil and basalmic vinegar, topped with a mixture of flaked canned tuna (In olive oil), drained canellini beans, chopped red onion and yellow bell pepper, and parsley and basil. Oh, and one smallish raw beet, chopped.

We had cold ham, pickled eggs, sliced tomato and potato salad - and Miriam and I split a cold beer. How summery is that!

...we are enjoying the same here!

Hot here, too, and dinner was a salad of mixed greens, scallions, baby bell peppers, shake of shredded mozzarella, and a dash of lime juice.
