Has Anyone Heard of This?

24 HOUR ECONOMIC BLACKOUT
This was posted by Jon Stewart but initiated by John Clemens: “The 24 hour Economic Blackout

WHEN:
Friday February 28th from
12:00 AM to 11:59 PM
WHAT TO DO:
Do not make any purchases
Do not shop online, or in-store
No Amazon, No Walmart, No Best Buy
Nowhere!
Do not spend money on:
Fast Food
Gas
Major Retailers
Do not use Credit or Debit Cards for non essential spending
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Only buy essentials of absolutely necessary
(Food, Medicine, Emergency Supplies)
If you must spend, ONLY support small, local businesses.
SPREAD THE MESSAGE
Talk about it, post about it, and document your actions that day!
WHY THIS MATTERS!
~ Corporations and banks only care about their bottom line.
~ If we disrupt the economy for just ONE day, it sends a powerful message.
~ If they don't listen (they won't) we make the next blackout longer (we will)
This is our first action.
This is how we make history.
February 28th
The 24 Hour Economic Black Out Begins.”

The best thing to do is not buy any Tesla vehicles for many days. Linda in Kansas

How extraordinary but an easy thing to do, I don't have a need to buy much these days, got it all and trying to get rid of it now!

To boycott Amazon and Tesla totally would be a great start. I do not use Amazon, nor have, nor will and my life sails along without a hitch. People may do this for a day, but in the way of most boycotts it will probably fizzle out quickly.

I think they are suggesting a variation here -- don't patronize American-owned stores like Staples or Best Buy, for example.

Yes, there's a poster on FaceBook that tells much the same thing. I just think it makes us feel better to see demonstrations and maybe boycott, but I don't think these efforts will really change things. I want to see some real leadership (in the opposition) come along soon!

Yes I first heard of this on Instragram. I posted about it on FB. I'm all in. I much prefer shopping at my locally family owned stores anyways and I can skip a week of Target. I haven't shopped at Crapmart...er...Walmart since 2004 and refuse to ever do business with them. As for fast food I don't eat it so that's an easy one to skip. Let's send a message!!
