It's been a very long time since I've posted something I've cooked. I've thought of it several times but then didn't try to document with photos which is of course necessary on a blog.
I've had a hankering for pizza since Saturday but didn't follow up on that until today.
Here's the recipe for the crust copied years ago from a Jane Brody cookbook long since let go. If you're not familiar with Jane she was a health guru in the 70s and 80s I think. The only recipe I consistently made from her cook book was for pizza dough so I copied it and let the book go.
I used King Arthur bleached flour. The white whole wheat I had was rancid so it went into the compost bin. Bake time was a lot less on the pizza stone. It was done in less than 15 minutes.
Here are the other ingredients.
The dough - half. This one went into the refrigerator for another time.
In the past I've tried to spread the dough on a cutting board with cornmeal underneath while the pizza stone heated in the oven. I've never been very successful at making the move to the stone, so this time I let the stone warm over the oven vent and then spread the dough on it and built the pizza.
The half I used spread out on a greased pizza stone.
Clean plate club!

From reading the post and seeing the final one, Marcia, this recipe for pizza crust was very successful. And, Imalsomforget about the order of thingsmto go on the crust😉 Now, homemade pizza may be in our future over the weekend.
...looks delish, we cheat and use flatbread to make pizza.
How yummy! Great to see you like to make things from scratch still.
Nice thin crust too, it looks delicious.

I'm shamelessly leaning the other way, no longer doing all the prep work and mixing things and cooking from scratch much at all. I get the ingredients to do so, but never get the motivation to actually spend time in the kitchen. I kind of miss it, and certainly the good dishes that are made.
We make pizza sometimes and sometimes we even make dough, but for a quick pizza we use naan bread. It’s not as good, but it sure is quick, and a homemade pizza can be ready in no time, especially appealing after we have been out birding all day.
That looks and sounds great! I love caramelized onions.
I have only made pizza once, and I bought the crust, so it probably doesn't count. I guess it wasn't very good because I've never been tempted to make it since.
