Veterans Day 2020

Honoring my father, Omar R. Buchwalter, who despite having a family, volunteered to serve in WWII as a chaplain and was assigned to the Pacific Theater.

Here he is 3rd from left in the Fiji Islands.

Below is the Veterans Memorial in Anthem, AZ.

My brother Steve who lives there donated a brick to honor Dad.

I don't remember how we found it among all the named bricks there.

To all veterans reading this - thank you for your service to our country!

Thanks to our father, and all those other persons that the bricks represent...any oppression must be fought against for us to have freedom.

Your dad and mine were in the Pacific Theater at the same time. Nice you able to find his brick amongst all those names. I often wonder what my dad would be thinking about his country this last four years.

It was nice of your brother to donate a brick to honor your father's service, Marcia. Even more astouding is that you found it among all those others. And your father was a true hero as well.

For a minute there, I thought he was in Hawaii. How wonderful that your brother was able to have a brick placed there for your father.
