Linking to Tuesday Treasures
I visited Mount Vernon today, home of George Washington, with a friend visiting from North Dakota. She hadn't been to Mount Vernon since she took a bus trip with her mother here years ago.
It was a glorious spring day. Trees and blooms were much further along than they are at my house.
I especially enjoyed seeing the redbuds in bloom.
Can you beat the blue of that sky?
You can even see the blue reflected in the glass.
And what a wonderful setting for a home on the Potomac River!
Our founding fathers offered George the kingship, but he turned it down. He also turned down running for a third term as president and the smooth transition of power made a start there.
His carriage though looks fit enough for a king.

I have never been there, but would love to see it. A beautiful place for a great man.
What a beautiful day to visit this National treasure...
A lovely day for a lovely day out. Yes that carriage looks like a Landau and could be in the queen of England's stable of cars etc.

These are awesome photos of Mt. Vernon. We haven't been there in such a long time. It sure is beautiful in springtime.

Now this is a treasure! I haven't been for a visit in over 50 years, thanks for taking me along. I'm glad that you have been able to take time share this, please hurry back.
A perfect day to visit such a beautiful place with blooming trees. I have been there with my host family in 1977 during my exchange year. Like to see it again.
I haven't been to Mt. Vernon in a LARGE number of years so your post brought back tons of memories. Thanks for letting me tag along, Marcia.
Ah---memories. I haven't been to Mt. Vernon probably since I was a teen... We need to go back sometime. So gorgeous.
Great set of pictures. Our RedBuds are pretty like that but none of our big trees have leaves YET.
Hope you had a great time with your friend.
Hugs,
Betsy
