Steeple Missing?

This former church building is in Cornish, NH.  I'm not sure of its history, only its no longer used as a church.

It is surrounded by an old cemetery.

The mountain in the background is Mt. Ascutney in Vermont.

The structure does look like it needs a spire to complete the steeple.

I love how fences are constructed in NH.  There's a granite column buried in the ground that the picket fence is attached to.

Linking to Inspired Sunday.

WOW, what a beautiful simple country church. The 25 light over 20 light windows are gorgeous! They sure don't build them like this today. Tom The Backroads Traveller

I see what you mean about it needing a spire but i like the simplicity of the structure and the window shapes. That for getting baackt me about the garlic. I think I might try that.

I like the simplicity of the structure and the window shapes, too.
Have a peaceful Sunday!

I agree with Tom. I really like all the windows and shutters that go along with them.

Thanks for the tour. I have always wanted to visit NH and Vermont - my ancestors lived there before moving west. I didn't know you could see Vermont from New Hampshire.

Ruth - Vermont and New Hampshire share as their border the Connecticut River. Cornish is very near that river so Vermont is readily visible.

Odd looking without the steeple but nice. I'd like to wander round the churchyard

What an interesting find. It makes you wonder what the building is used for now. I agree that it definitely needs a steeple. Thanks for shooting the fence with the granite post. It might just end a mild difference of opinion between me and Hubby about a stub sticking out of the ground in our yard!
