A Post in Two Parts

 Part One: Monster Plant

The bleeding heart has grown to be a monster.

It's crowding the peonies.

And the lilies.

Once it stops blooming I will have to trim it back some.

Part Two: Hummingbirds

As I was photographing the bleeding heart this hummingbird came by.

It's not scared so long as I stand still.

I sat on the deck then and watched it. At one point there was movement in the bleeding heart and the hummingbird was sticking its beak into the blossoms.

They are so much fun to watch.

A Bit of History

My granddaughter #2's first grade class had a field trip to our town.

One stop of many was at our house.

Another stop was on the green and at the Meeting House.

There was also mention of the native peoples who once lived in this area.

In the description of the Meeting House was mention of where it once stood. In reading that Dan and I realized that where we thought it was once, was not correct. So we went looking for the cemetery that didn't move when the church did.

We found it in the woods on the side of a hill.

All cemeteries are cared for by the town but looks like this one could use a bit more care.

At least the Boy Scouts have marked the veterans graves.  This one was likely in the Revolutionary War.

Time has taken a toll on these gravestones.
