More Blooms

These blooms are in the deck garden.

Creeping thyme.

Dahlias preparing to bloom

Lungwort or is it spider wort?

Day lily.

I think this one is a volunteer from the birdseed.

Bee balm, shasta daisies and now a gladiola.

The gladiolas and shasta daisies were once at the end of the deck when it was twice the size it is now.  I'm glad they didn't mind being transplanted.  I think the shasta daisies are a new favorite because they just keep on blooming.

And with this post I'm taking a bit of a break from posting.  I'll be back soon.

Some Additions and More Blooms

Here's the Sculpture Garden with a new addition under the category Garden Art.  We went to several yard sales last Saturday and I came home with some pots and some garden art.
[A side note: notice not much growing in this bed.  The hosta I planted which are supposed to be mammoth size are much smaller than I expected.  I'm wondering if under the hemlocks is a problem or if the bed is just too dry? Gardeners out there please weigh in.]

Actually we came home with two of these - each $5.  The second one below is in the Maple Garden.

Both are made by Planet Jr USA.

See more about the company here.

Found some on eBay selling for a lot more than $5!

They each has a different uses but don't ask me what.  I think the one below is missing a smaller wheel and a seed cup.

More lilies opened up.

Also this lovely that Emily shared with me from her garden has produced blooms..

I have this volunteer plant.  Beatrice though the blossom on my earlier post was a zucchini or squash.

Here's what's growing.  Not sure what it is. The seeds came from my compost. It's so lush that I hate to pull it out though it crowds some new daylilies. I'm just curious as to what it is but need to keep it off the grass.

Another Garden Project ...

Completed!

I forgot to take a before photo of the green metal gate I purchased at a yard sale at the end of last month before I painted it blue. It has two sides to it but no standing hardware.  We bought rebar to pound into the ground to hold it up.  With the cost of the rebar rods and the blue spray paint my $5 yard sale purchase cost me much more.

But I really like how it turned out.

View from the front porch of the Sculpture Garden straight ahead.

I got the color blue as close to what the birdbath looks like.

Can you even see the rebar rods holding it up?  Dan had me spray paint those as well.

New Faces

I have some new faces blooming in the garden and some others preparing to show their faces.

On the front porch and in the front porch garden

a yellow begonia, one of two in pots,

pink tulips

red geranium

yellow daisies

A volunteer on the side of the house I hated to pullout

spider wort (I think)

On the deck pots are filled.

including this hanging pot sharing the hook with the hummingbird feeder.

In the deck garden the first bloom of the bleeding heart I just planted this spring.

In the maple tree garden I moved the yellow pansies that had been on the front porch to this pot.

In that garden are some blooms to reveal soon.  Not sure what this one is but there are several.

Columbine is full of buds.

Here's a full view of that garden bed with splashes of color from marigolds newly planted.

In the hosta garden this lambs ear is filling out nicely.

This mammoth hosta had a head start by being planted last fall.  There are an assortment of others that were given to me that I quickly planted.  As they get bigger their final resting places may change.

These pansies from last year wintered over and are blooming in the hosta bed.

In the sculpture bed the mammoth hostas I planted are doing well.

The Inukshuk has been recreated using landscape adhesive (Thanks Tom).  Doesn't quite look the same but is sturdier.

This new little stone bench is awaiting a pot TBD.

The yard and gardens in almost their entirety.  Never had a lawn so big before.

And the view to the west with that solitary white tree

blooming on the hill.  Another new face!

Update: a couple of posts ago I complained how Blogger mixes up my photo inserts. Faith who commented mentioned that once she uploads the photos she deselects them and then selects them in the order she wants them to appear.  I tried that with this post and it worked.  Thank you, Faith!
