Three Randoms

This photo hung over our table at the Tooky Mills Pub in Hillsborough NH where we had lunch yesterday. Caption said first truck in Hillsborough.  What do you notice in the photo?

We were too early for the Lady's Slippers at the Eshqua Bog in May but did see these yesterday at the Loverens Mill White Cedar Swamp.  More on the hike another time.

Finally the field behind our house is being hayed today. Depending upon rain he may be able to do it two more times this summer.

Work in Progress

I'm making an angel using an old shutter and reclaimed wood from the old loft in the barn.

But I goofed!

I didn't look at this inspiration photo from Pinterest before I had Dan attach the wings.

I set the wings too low.

I think I'll have to take off the bottom wing board and attach it above.  The head's off-center too but that's going to have to stay that way because he drilled through the tart pan to attach to shutter.

Still need to decide about arms.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Memorial Day in My Hometown

We've lived in this small rural town now for one and a half years.  This was the first Memorial Day program we could attend because Covid canceled the last two years.

It's always celebrated on the 30th so if school was in session the school kids would be bussed over to participate. It was a Monday holiday as you know but still attendance was high.

It takes place just across the street from our house.  How could we not attend?

Gathering.  Granddaughters in attendance with sun hats on.

Benches brought out from the Meeting House.

Boy Scouts were the color guard.

One of the selectmen was master of ceremonies.

We marched to the nearest stream to put in a wreath for Navy veterans remembered,

A wreath for others laid at foot of Civil War monument.

Hot dogs, chips and ice cream provided afterward.
