"Foliage Experts Predict a Colorful Fall"

That was the title of an article in Wednesday's local paper.  The reasons given for the high expectations for color are several.

A good growing season.

No fungal diseases like last year when the rains wouldn't stop.

A mild winter and long season has meant trees have stored up energy.

Ideal weather conditions for foliage include warm days and cool nights which are all in our weather forecasts.

But and there's always a hedge.  If we have storms and heavy winds into the peak the leaves can be stripped.

Photos from my walk on Wednesday morning.  The colors are starting.

...at home, the only color is from the stress of a dry summer.

You all will have color before we do. I figure in about a month, whatever we get will happen. Last year was a bust.

Like Tom, what color we have is a result of the drought and poor stressed trees. I hope your fall will be lovely. So many people travel to see the New England color.

Here’s hoping.

I also read an article that the New England colors would be very good this year and hope that it holds true. We will be out of the country for the first part of October so hope the colors last a while.

I look forward to seeing some photos of the fall. You have already captured a few hints of what's to come.

Lets hope that the prophets are right for once. I'd like to see a golden autumn, even if it's just in photos from another part of the world.

Our colour is all from the spring blossom on the trees, so pretty. I love autumn foliage as well.
