First Harvest

My first harvest of snow peas from my raised bed.

I haven’t had fresh snow peas since we moved from the Lodge in the summer of 2016. I’m not even sure if I planted them that spring since we were moving to the retirement home in Columbia, MD that June. So the last harvest would have been in 2015 - 10 years ago. Moving to NH was not even on the radar for us in either of those years.

The other peony

On Monday when I was working in the garden the other peony still hadn't bloomed or so I thought.

Even looking from the dining room table I couldn't see it.  Tuesday was a rainy day so I didn't venture out for a closer look until today. But then this morning I caught a glimpse of color and went out with the iPhone to capture it up close.

The rain has weighed down the blooms.  Only two have opened so far.

Checking on the first peony to bloom, I discovered this bloom below with a broken stem so I brought it in to enjoy.
