Many years ago, in fact last century, I was on the flower committee at the church we attended. Teams of two were responsible for purchasing and arranging the flowers for the Sunday service. We'd go to a local florist which offered buy one get one free on Saturdays. I was teamed with a woman older than me who was well versed in flowers. I wish I could recall her name. Anyway all this build up to say that she spoke of flowers having faces. So as we arranged them we made sure the faces were in their best view.
As I walk around my garden I am greeted by so many faces at this time of year and I fondly remember my flower arranging teammate.
Come walk with me. How many can you identify?

I know some. #12 looks like Star of Bethlehem which I id-ed for just the first time earlier today. It is similar anyway.
...#1 looks like lupine. I wish that you had a wider shot. I love #6, perhaps Iris Missouriensis".
It is lupine, Tom. #6 is a Siberian or Japanese Iris I got from a friend of my daughter's. I love the blue shade. You probably have the correct name.
Let's see...first is lupin, then Japanese or Siberian iris, then another iris, weigelia?, honeysuckle?, another Japanese or Siberia iris--i don't know those very well, allium?, spiderwort, Iris, phlox?, pansy, star of Bethlehem, columbine, geranium, iris, possibly perennial hollyhock? But not sure of that one, and cyclamen. Those are my guesses, anyway. Such a beautiful variety!
You are correct, AC.
Whatever their names, they look beautiful and a joy to look at as you walk through your garden.
Each and every flower in your garden has its own charming smile.
Thank you for your comment. The US pavilion is very popular, always a long que.
I shall forever more think of flowers as faces!
Love them all, especially the pansies, which already are smiling faces. I have these for the first time this year, and am not happy that they are needing watering almost daily or they get the droopsies...of course the warmer sun might have something to do with it. I'm not in a plant care giving frame of mind I guess this year.
Even without knowing all their names, the joy and beauty they bring is unmistakable. Thank you for sharing this heartwarming story and the cheerful blooms from your garden
Marcia, maybe at one time i could name a few of these lovely blooms, but now the iPhone app can help when I am out and about.
Quite a beautiful collection! The pink bearded iris reminds me of one I had that my husband said looked like old ladies' underwear. (I am an old lady but I favor black.)
Gorgeous!
