Lots to think about as we prepare for a trip to Greece with Roads Scholar in April. It's not been canceled by the tRump's war.
Getting out of US may be a challenge with TSA issues. We do have TSA Precheck which I've read is a faster line. We will arrive at the Boston airport 3 hours ahead of time but will need to get lunch too. We leave home in the morning and take a 2.5 hour bus to the airport!
Here is some of what I do to get ready.
First I print out a packing list. I printed one for Dan too. You see I make lots of notes on it.
We will be using vacuum bags for packing our clothing. It worked for our two week trips to Spain and to Switzerland but for both of those trips we had laundry facilities in our apartments. On board the small ship there is supposed to be laundry with limited availability so still struggling with what combinations of clothes to take. The weather is not going to be as warm as I originally thought when we booked this trip. Athens will probably be the warmest and the islands in the Aegean will be cooler. Today highs there are in the 50s.
I start assembling items to take on the guest room bed. Unfortunately I'm going to have to move all of this when granddaughters #3 & #4 come on the 2nd.
Roads Scholar has sent us name tags and suitcase tags.
What do you do to get ready?

We also have an upcoming trip in April, but unlike yours, ours will be in the U.S. with a river cruise on the Mississippi from New Orleans to Memphis. Like yourself, I am also concerned either the airport lines and we will also fly out of Boston and also have TSA Pre-check. We had planned to take the bus but the timing on our return didn't work, so we hired a pickup service, which at least means the return flight will be monitored as we have a change in Atlanta. I also lay things out ahead of time, like yourself, but don't have a written list except in your head. Our ship also has online laundry machines. Knowing what to pack is always a tough call.
I prefer to travel by car, but will fly on occasion. Either way there's a list on my "notes" on my phone. Add to, subtract from. Wish my walking stick had fit in my carry-on bag last spring when I flew...had to borrow one for some walks. Car trips often have an overnight stay, so I have to figure out what I need to take into motel and not everything that's packed. There's also a food choice for on the road which is always fun! Enjoy Greece (and take lots of photos!)
I hope the weather is mild and, yes, pictures please.
Not sure if you've tried them before, but make sure your compression socks fit. Most are sold too small in spite of the labeling. If you have a local medical equipment supply store, they usually have helpers with sizing and fitting. You don't want them too tight! You prepare like I do, spreading everything on a spare bed. Good organization skills! Safe travels!
I was wondering about travelling and walking sticks.
I make lots of lists, too. I lay out all my clothes and put them into outfits to make sure everything goes with something else. How fun to be planning for a trip.
I like the quilt you've shown in the background of your photos.
You can’t just pack a lunch and take it with you? As for clothes, it’s never an issue with me. I don’t own many. I am very much a wash and repeat guy!
