My Advent Calendar

December 7th

I used Shutterfly to make this ornament after our two week vacation in Scotland in the Fall of 2017. The apartment we had through UnTours was in Dunblane and this was the cathedral there.
Here's a link to my blog post about this cathedral.

Lots of good memories from that trip.  It was our first with UnTours.

We especially enjoyed shopping for dinners at the butcher shop which had these meat pies for sale.

Today would have been my Mother's 107th birthday.  She managed to live to almost 95.  Miss her every day.  I'm sorry that none of my granddaughters never met her but I've made a point of telling them about her.

Here she is surrounded by her art work in the last months of her life.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

First, a lovely tribute to your mom! What an accomplished talented woman, and I'm so glad you're telling your young women about her life. Thus ancestors have part in their lives. (Reminder for me to do that with my grandchildren too!) And next, love love love your Christmas ornament!

Happy heavenly birthday to your mom.
What a nice way to remember your trip.
Mincemeat is like meatloaf every family has a different recipe. My gram's recipe is apples, raisins, currents, brown sugar. Well you get the idea.
The simmer pot I cut up an orange I had zested for another recipe threw in clives, cinnamon stick and star anise in a big pot and filled it full of water and put it on low on my stove watched it so it didn't go dry. Made the house smell great and it is all natural. I would of put it on my wood stove but it is in our basement. Hope that helps

Sending hugs, Marcia, as you celebrate your mother. A good age, but we are never ready to say goodbye
As to Ripley, yes, we are 3 hours due West from Elkins. We go through there when we visit our son in Grant county, but make the trip less often these days. Just not into long drives any more. Going is one thing, but having to make the return trip is sure tiring.
You may gave come to Ripley for the Cedar Lakes Arts and Crafts Fair, but we aren't really much of a tourist destination 😀
