Welcome New Year 2021

Don't know about you but I'm having trouble reading any article that looks back to reminisce about 2020. Let's just close that chapter and look forward to better times in 2021.

But for the sake of a laugh, here's what a friend forwarded to me.

Here are 12 things to consider as we get closer to closing the door on one of the most horrible years of our lifetime.

1. The dumbest thing I ever bought was a 2020 planner.

2. I was so bored I called Jake from State Farm just to talk to someone.  He asked me what I was wearing.

3. 2019:  Stay away from negative people.  2020:  Stay away from positive people.

4. The world has turned upside down.  Old folks are sneaking out of the house & their kids are yelling at them to stay indoors!

5. This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her dog.  It was obvious she thought her dog understood her.  I came into my house & told my cat.  We laughed a lot.

6. Every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit.  Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.

7. Does anyone know if we can take showers yet or should we just keep washing our hands?

8. This virus has done what no woman has been able to do.  Cancel sports, shut down all bars & keep men at home!

9. I never thought the comment, “I wouldn’t touch him/her with a 6-foot pole” would become a national policy, but here we are!

10. I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.

11. I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to the Backyard.  I’m getting tired of the Living Room.

12. Never in a million years could I have imagined I would go up to a bank teller wearing a mask & ask for money.

Happy New Year!  It's got to be.

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas

Christmas greetings to you and yours.

The tree has been up and decorated since we first moved in!  Priorities!

A festive bouquet that arrived for my birthday last week is still look lovely with its Christmas colors.

And cookies have been baked and decorated.  Now to package them up to give to people who helped us make the move: the family that gave us the guest bed frame, the family that lent us the hand truck, and the neighbors who have welcomed us with wine and fresh baked bread.

I'm taking an extended vacation for the next two weeks to enjoy the holidays here in our new home.  See you in the New Year.

The Day After

What a welcome to our new house: 3 feet of snow!  "An unexpected wallop" as the local paper said in its headlines this morning.  In other words the forecast missed it!

Compare this view from my desk to the one on the header.  It's beautiful blue sky day, 4ยบ and mountains of snow.

A knock on the door just a few minutes ago was a member of the welcoming committee!  She handed me this welcome basket.  I don't think I've ever had a welcome basket!  What a surprise.  I have yet to unpack it to see what all is there but there is a loaf of sour dough bread on the top.

Today is cookie baking day on top of minding the granddaughters so daughter and son in law can work.

I need to get out to take photos of the mountains of snow, too.

New Decade

 Today marks my 70th birthday!

My youngest sister sent this beautiful bouquet that arrived at our door before dinner. It's sitting on a table that once graced the living room in our house in Columbia. (We moved from there in 2003.) Our daughter had the table in her kitchen until they renovated.  She gave it back to us to use as a work table in the kitchen.  It had been taking up space in her attic.

Our great room extends beyond the kitchen.  The shade covering the slider doors on the left is down.  It requires two people to put it up and down.

We still have some boxes to unpack, stored presently in the guest room.  We need to be here awhile before we decide where the pictures go on the walls.

Wonderful to be here in a new home in New Hampshire.

The new chapter continues to be written.

New header photo taken this morning from my desk window looking out on the side of the great room toward the barn.

Nearing Final Move-In Step

The furniture arrives today!  Our next to final step to moving in.  Dan returned to the apartment this morning to meet the movers by 8 am.  I think they'll be here before lunch.  We'll be wearing our masks and have some windows open even though it's cold outside.  We've gone this long without catching Covid and don't want to catch it now.  Movers are to be masked too.

We will have to return to apartment later this week to take down the pictures from the walls and clean up.  But the good news is that everything will be done by Christmas.

Some Laughs

Just a quick stop in to post these laughs I got from my friend Marilyn.  Packing and moving going well. We have moved 99% of what we planned to move and the furniture the movers will take on Monday.  Back very soon.
