Goldfinch.
The shot I wish I could have captured is the goldfinch perched on the black eyed susan nibbling on the flowers.
Sharing the bird feeder.
Is that another kind of finch? They love to eat the blossoms of my Autumn Joy sedum.
Tufted titmouse.
The shot I wish I had is the titmouse working to open the sunflower seed grasped in its feet.
What is that woodpecker making the racket in the woods?
Is it a flicker?
It never visits my feeders and its a rare sighting around here for me.
Can you make out this little darling?
Does its bill give it away?
Silhouetted on the feeder sitting up straight.
More relaxed after a good drink.
The shot I wish I had is of the battles between the hummingbirds over feeding rights.
Linking to Wild Bird Wednesday.
Lovely visitors. Love the little hummingbird on the feeder.
ReplyDeleteWe hve seen no hummers around here this summer in the heat, you're lucky!
ReplyDeleteTHe hummers are quite bold at times. I had one buzz me in the garden. I don't know if it was my stray hat or just they wanted me away from where I was. They will soon be moving south in their migration. Amazing little birds.
ReplyDeleteand well done you for being inspired to get the camera out.....
ReplyDeleteYes it was. I always forget to just take it with me and usually by the time I go back for it thee best shot has passed. Just sitting out there helped. It's hard to sit still for long but I did it and thoroughly enjoyed the time.
DeleteI love watching various birds. Unfortunately, we seem to be taken over by hordes of crows that are very mean and territorial and have scared off most of our other birds. We do still have the hummingbirds and we delight in them. Your photos are wonderful, as always.
ReplyDeleteI've read that crows are very smart and can even remember a face. I wonder how you could tame them?
DeleteThanks for the compliment.
Great visitors to your feeder. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how fast they empty those feeders.
DeleteMarcia, The birds in question are female House Finches and yes that is a Flicker. I have many House Finches but seldom get to see a Flicker.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you linked up with Wild Bird Wednesday and shared your feathered friends!:)
Thanks for reminding me about it.
DeleteHi there - nice set of pictures. Don't worry about lenses and such like the whole point of WBW is to get people to share pictures of birds - I don't see any of the birds you get around your feeder, so I'm just pleased to see any pictures!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M
Thanks for the encouragement, Stewart.
