Blueberry Season

My neighbor's blueberry patch.  I learned today it was planted 40 years ago from another nearby resident who arrived after I did to pick and said he remembers helping to plant these bushes.

My photo above does not do justice to the size of this patch.

Pick all you want for $2 per pint.  A real bargain.  This is my second trip to the patch next door and I'll be going back again.

Some of these are destined for topping on a Dutch baby pancake tomorrow morning and the rest in a blueberry cobbler.

  1. They look good. It will soon be blackberry season here - all growing wild and for free in the hedgerows. And there are also plums growing wild too from the days when this was fruit-growing country.

  2. They look beautiful, and you're right, a bargain at that price.
Around here, blackberries used to be plentiful but no more. I think a kind of blight has taken out many of them. There are wild raspberries, but it has been a long time since I picked any.

  3. I wanted to pick some blueberries this year but never got to it not sure if it is too late or not. That is a great bargain.

  4. I love me a blueberry pie. Meanwhile, I often have them on my morning cereal.

  5. If I were there I’d be picking till my fingers ached! Better keep an eye out for bears though!

  6. We have made Dutch baby pancakes and they are wonderful and sure yours will be even more so with fresh-picked blueberries, Marcia.

  7. I love blueberries. Went picking once with my son and it was lots of fun. Usually I just buy them at the market.
