Visitors

I have a feeder right outside the window over my desk. Between the birds and squirrels feeding there, it empties fast.  In fact it needs refilling now as I write this on a rainy Saturday morning.

The gray squirrel in the neighborhood is the most determined to feed there.

The red squirrel feeds from the ground..

Chickadees and Titmouse fly back and forth continually.

Below I captured this bird on the feeder in the backyard.  I thought at the time it was a starling but looking at it now I'm not sure. David G - help, please?

  1. ...Google Lens says that it's a common starling.

  2. I do not think I have ever seen a bird like that before. We have a feeder the squirrels can't reach but oh they try. They do feed from under it though

  3. It's so nice to have feeders and watch the birds and your squirrel is prettier than the gray squirrels we chase off! Thanks so much for your kind words on my blog. I appreciate your friendship.

  4. Those squirrels can get to be real pests but they are cute and their antics entertaining. There is a huge acorn crop this year so our squirrels have been absent eating those for several weeks. They’ll be back!

  5. We gave up. The last straw was seeing mice at the base of the feeder.

  6. Of course, it's a sesame seed bird; it just hasn't dropped all of it's seeds yet! I have no clue, but most starlings are dark blue/black with some iridescent throats. Linda in Kansas

  7. I remember having a problem with a hoard of squirrels emptying our bird feeder in winter before the birds could have a bite. We finally had to get a feeder with a plexiglass dome on top.
