This photo hung over our table at the Tooky Mills Pub in Hillsborough NH where we had lunch yesterday. Caption said first truck in Hillsborough. What do you notice in the photo?
We were too early for the Lady's Slippers at the Eshqua Bog in May but did see these yesterday at the Loverens Mill White Cedar Swamp. More on the hike another time.
Finally the field behind our house is being hayed today. Depending upon rain he may be able to do it two more times this summer.
Love the old photo...mmm, what do you want me to notice? The grocery hardware combo, that they are selling out on the sidewalk, the name of the truck, or the stone hitching post? I always enjoy old photos. Good you found a Lady's Slipper blooming! Oh, when they have another crop of hay, do they have to reseed the field for it or does it grow again from the original roots?
ReplyDeleteBarbara - you didn't pick out what I noticed. Try again. And as to the field it grows again just as one's lawn grows after cutting.
ReplyDeleteIs it the right hand drive?
ReplyDeleteThe first cut of hay has gotten very much earlier in recent years and is a death sentence for the eggs and young of ground-nesting birds.
ReplyDeletei guess I notice various things, but I will mention the all male cast and that they’re all wearing ties.
ReplyDelete...it's my understanding that the first cutting of hay is the best.
ReplyDeleteThere are no women at that grocery store!!
ReplyDeleteLots of observations about the hardware photos, some that I didn't notice. But Mary of Frugally Challenged noticed what I picked up that the truck was a right hand drive.
ReplyDeleteLatane is right no women at a grocery store!
I'm glad you told us because I totally missed seeing that. Hmmm... made in England maybe?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, no headlights on the truck? "Liquid Paints" on the sign, but I think paint used to come in powder form; the limestone fencing post could place it in Kansas. I curious. I see burn, mold or smudge marks, besides the tear. Was the photo in a fire? Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI just noticed the liquid paint sign. Thanks for your comment on the Trooping of the Colour. There were lots of women in the parade as there are lots in the armed forces. All those on parade are normally on the battle field. The regiments take it in turn to do ceremonial duties.
ReplyDeleteLinda, photo taken here in NH. Lots of granite posts throughout the state after all it is the Granite State. Photos is old - not sure why all the marks or how long it's being hanging in the pub.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback! Bet your granite does better than the limestone fence posts that hang out in Kansas. Linda in Kansas
