The Barn Guy is ...

... a barn whisperer if there is such a thing.

He showed up today early and in the heat has been working all day.

Progress being made.

I can see him from my desk and his shirt is drenched.  He is not a young guy, thankfully because that means he's done this before.  That's not to say someone younger couldn't do this but experience is an important qualification for restoring a 100 + year old barn.

  2. Oh, good! He returned. What you are experiencing is certainly true of workmen here as well. I think they have more jobs than manpower and try to keep everyone happy. We had a plumbing job in our older house that got completed finally after 4 weeks and several calls to see what happened to “the guys” and waiting for calls to be returned.

  3. Nice to read and see this update, Marcia, and while I know it's nice to have him there the thought of working in such heat is not a good one. But, as you say, he is experienced and knows what he's doing.

  5. A young guy would be good WITH the older guy, to learn how to do it right! Hundred year old barns are things of beauty, but so few are restored, and that's a shame.

  6. When we had a problem with a leaky garage roof, it was the old guy who sorted it out. The young ones tried something and moved on, never looking back.
