European Vacation - Part VIII

Fortunately for us we visited the St. Stephen's Basilica on Monday morning on our own before we boarded the river cruise boat.  The tour from AmaWaterways the next day did not have time for us to go in. We only drove passed it on the tour bus.

St. Stephen's Basilica is named for the first king of Hungary.


Look closely at the green dome above.  Just below it is a railing.  We took 2 very small elevators to reach that height.  Photos from that spot are near the end of this post.












This is the reliquary that is supposed to house St. Stephen's right hand.


Here are the views from the outside of the dome.  The church is one of the tallest structures in Budapest.







We must have been looking down on a hotel here.



I really liked that roof.  I think its tiles.

  4. Hi, I am so enjoying reading about your European vacation....Maybe someday we will get there.. BUT--if that happens, it will be AFTER Alaska, AFTER Hawaii, etc.... SO much to see and so few years and so LITTLE money!!!! ha

    Love seeing St. Stephen's Basilica.... Gorgeous.
