From the Vegetable Garden

I spent an hour in the vegetable garden before the rain drove me inside.  We have had more than enough rain of late. Plants are growing very well and some of them needed some taming and direction as to which way to go.  I also gave most of the tomatoes a good pruning of the lower leaves and suckers.  I hope this will produce bigger fruits for me this year.

Here's the basket of vegetables I brought in from the garden today.

The basket contained one patio and one olive tomato.

These 6 carrots.

4 sweet banana peppers.

Some side shoots of broccoli.

A handful of green ice lettuce.

Last week I got this patio tomato.

The blueberries are ripening on one bush.  The other ones are not doing well at all.

Check out other harvests at Daphne's Dandelions.

  1. Great harvest! I envy you the tomatoes, I have a few little green ones, but my plants are playing catch-up this year.

    1. I can't say the tomatoes have tasted particularly good. They are so tiny.

  3. Hi Marcia, Your veggies almost made my mouth water.. They look so GOOD... We went to the local Farmer's Market here a couple of times --but they didn't have much yet... Hope we can find some fresh farm veggies soon.

Glad your critters aren't eating your veggies and fruits.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

    1. Thankfully the fence keeps the critters out though I saw some nibbling of squash vines that dared to go outside the fence. There's so much else the groundhog can eat around that it hasn't dug under the fence.

  4. Your basketful of vegetables is lovely! Do you like the sweet banana peppers? I'm growing them for the first time but they don't look ready yet.

    1. I do like the banana peppers. I put two in stir fry last night with the broccoli I harvested and thinly sliced beef that I marinated. It was all good.

    1. I planted many more carrots but most did not germinate. There are a handful more out there and that's it for the carrot season.
