... the volunteer unknown tomato!
I went into the garden this afternoon to pick some jalapenos, cucumbers and basil to give to a friend and this lovely had ripened enough to be picked.
This came from the tomato plant volunteer that germinated in the raised bed and has grown just as well as the seeds I started inside. Now to see how it will taste.
nice! how did it taste?
ReplyDeleteWill taste it tomorrow. I hope its good because there are a lot more on that vine of unknown origin.
DeleteDon't you love when "nature finds a way"?? Too neat!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am sorely tempted to start my tomatoes directly in the beds where I want them to grow next spring instead of hassling with starting seeds indoors. They obviously germinate fine outside and grow just as bigger if not bigger.
DeleteThe mystery tomato may turn out to be your BEST one!!!!!! It certainly is healthy...
ReplyDeleteHad some rain today!!!! Yeah!
Hugs,
Betsy
I never have been able to pull up a volunteer plant. My thinking is that if it worked so hard to germinate and grow I should respect that! Funny though, I don't feel the same way about weeds. My husband tells me a weed is just a plant I have not learned to love! Enjoy your tomato. I was waiting to pick my first red one and a squirrel beat me to it.
