Minimal Harvest

I haven't posted on the harvest because there have been none.  But Sunday I picked these two kinds of green leaf lettuces for salad for dinner.  There's not much else out there because the spinach which is usually a prolific fall crop has done nothing.  There are some small bok choy plants that may be usable once they get bigger if they can do that with the light failing and temps falling.

See what other gardeners have harvested this fall week at Daphne's Dandelions.

  1. That looks like a great harvest to me! I would so love some fresh greens right now! My spinach is covered with snow and my lettuce was planted late.

  2. Marcia, I am in the same boat. Once I dig the carrots I think today that will be the end unless the brussel spouts decide to grow but don't hold much hope there.

  3. How I would love to have some garden fresh lettuce for a salad.
Wilderness, I too am waiting for my Brussel sprouts to grow, but after Saturday's snow storm I have to give up hope.

  4. My harvests were rather meek this week as well. But, something is always better than nothing! Looks like it was tasty at least.

  7. Nice to have some fresh salad! I managed to get enough lettuce to put on a burger this week. I think I planted a bit late, but I'm going to cover and hope they last a bit longer and grow a bit more. My spinach are also tiny and probably won't do anything until spring.

  10. My spinach has been pretty sad too. It is finally starting to grow, but with the temps dropping I'm sure I'll have to wait until spring to harvest.
