How soon we forget. I went back to last year's postings for August and read my laments that the zucchini wasn't producing and there were no green peppers. I was celebrating tomatoes and eggplants, however. This year the zucchini are just about done for the season, the peppers are mass producing, the tomatoes are satisfactory and no eggplant. What a difference from one year to the next.
Most of my tomatoes have been frozen, eaten or the last batch made into tomato jam. We are eating peppers but I could freeze some too. The basil you see above was washed, dried, chopped and drizzled with olive oil then frozen in a bag flattened so I can break off bits to use in the winter.See other harvests at Daphne's Dandelions.
It's amazing how things change from one year to the next. I always think it would be great if Mother Nature would give us one year where everything was good....but, then we would get spoiled!

I just looked back on last year for comparison as well. I kept seeing so many tomato harvests posted on harvest mondays that I was feeling a bit left out. However, I found I am not too far off from last year after all. I guess the best advice is to go with the flow.
ReplyDeleteThat makes me so mad when something does good one year, but doesn't the next! I know it can grow there - and it irritates me if it doesn't! Your harvests look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI hear you! Garden is always different dependent on where you plant them and how the weather is for the year! Just goes to prove - don't put all your eggs in one basket or in gardening terms, plant different veggies, not bank on one type :)
