Just Some Photos

The last iris to bloom is the pale lavender one.

See how it contrasts with the deep purple.

The elusive peony that I have had for many years. I brought it to this house in 2006 but it hasn't bloomed until this year.

One of three front planters starting to fill in. Love that green of the sweet potato vine. Other than hanging pots and here, I can't grow sweet potato if the ground hog can reach it.

Knock out rose knocking itself out. Must be the bath of fish emulsion, epsom salt, ammonia, liquid detergent and water that did the trick.

Finally, the irises around the pond are in full array.

  2. The peony was worth the wait. I too, have nicotina and ornamental potato vine in a container...it roots easily you know. Snip put in water and viola! three days you have roots..overwinters inside fine too.

  3. The lavender with the dark purple is gorgeous. I can't believe you were so patient with that peony! I know it takes them three years or so to bloom, but I would not have been as patient as you! Your yellow flag iris looks great around the pond.

  5. Great shots Marcia. Iris and peonies are just coming up here. Will be a while before we see blooms. I have at least another year I would imagine before my peony blooms. Not too sure when I did plant it or even where I got it. CRS is terrible.

I had potato vine in the house last year and couldn't keep the spider mites off it so finally gave up and threw it out before my other plants got invested.
