Welcome reader to my blog - a mixture of this and that. Now that we are living in a retirement community in downtown Columbia, MD my personal gardening activities are somewhat curtailed. I still enjoy visiting gardens, reading, watching wildlife on my walks, traveling, and occasional food commentary. Please leave a comment if you feel inspired to do so. I read every one of them.

Lights for Liberty Vigil

The Lights for Liberty Vigil was held here in Columbia, MD at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center.

We gathered in the Catholic sanctuary there.  Later I learned that the crowd filled other sanctuaries there as well.

After singing, speeches, prayers for immigrants we processed outside to light candles and stand vigil.

Here's Rebecca who came with me.

It was a moving evening.  Glad to see so many like minded people concerned for the treatment of  immigrants.

I was disappointed to not see any media coverage of our event but googling Lights for Liberty showed it was covered well in other places.

It is good to make a stand for such an important issue.

...some folks sure have an interesting idea of what liberty is these days.

We atfended a Lights for Liberty vigil, too and were heartened by the number of people there in our small conservative town. No media here either and no security which i found a bit concerning as there were some disrespectful people who kept up conversation and laughter through most of proceedings.

Good for you. There's a decent America lurking.
