European Vacation - Part VIII

Linking to Inspired Sunday

Fortunately for us we visited the St. Stephen's Basilica on Monday morning on our own before we boarded the river cruise boat.  The tour from AmaWaterways the next day did not have time for us to go in. We only drove passed it on the tour bus.

St. Stephen's Basilica is named for the first king of Hungary.

Look closely at the green dome above.  Just below it is a railing.  We took 2 very small elevators to reach that height.  Photos from that spot are near the end of this post.

This is the reliquary that is supposed to house St. Stephen's right hand.

Here are the views from the outside of the dome.  The church is one of the tallest structures in Budapest.

We must have been looking down on a hotel here.

I really liked that roof.  I think its tiles.

My brother and sister in law.

Inside the dome.  There were stairs to take if you wanted.

Last views before descending.

More to come.  Stop back again.

It is a few years since I visited the Cathedral but your photos brought it all back. All that beauty under one roof.
