Welcome reader to my blog - a mixture of this and that. Now that we are living in a retirement community in downtown Columbia, MD my personal gardening activities are somewhat curtailed. I still enjoy visiting gardens, reading, watching wildlife on my walks, traveling, and occasional food commentary. Please leave a comment if you feel inspired to do so. I read every one of them.

Harvest Such As It Is!

The last tomatoes for the season I'm afraid. See why below.
Green beans and green peppers are all that's out there now.

The stink bugs have come and they are spoiling the tomatoes that remain.

See other harvests at Daphne's Dandelions.

Our tomatoes are finally just coming into production here in eastern Ontario. Of course I was late getting them in, so have no one to blame but myself. We took about ten quarts of green beans off today - it was a lot of tipping, tailing and cutting, but the Missus is just blanching the last of them now.

I thought I was the only one with that many stink bugs!

Oh dear....those darn stink bugs! I hate those things!

Well, you still have some nice beans and peppers in the garden to enjoy!

I live in Maryland, too. Thankfully, the stink bugs were more interested in my sunflowers than tomatoes. My bean plants were less productive due to the Mexican Bean Beetles.

Sorry to hear about your bug problem. I have been seeing a few on our tomatoes, but luckily they decided to focus on my now defunct green bean bed. At least you have some other nice crops to make up for your lack of tomatoes!

Dang...I am jealous. I have only had peppers produce this year.:(
Don't get me wrong...I love successful gardens.:)
