Welcome reader to my blog - a mixture of this and that. Now that we are living in a retirement community in downtown Columbia, MD my personal gardening activities are somewhat curtailed. I still enjoy visiting gardens, reading, watching wildlife on my walks, traveling, and occasional food commentary. Please leave a comment if you feel inspired to do so. I read every one of them.

First Tomato

The first tomato of the 2010 season is an Amish Paste tomato. Unfortunately it got its genomes crossed and instead of growing long and cylindrical it tried to become a sphere like other varieties.

You can get some really interesting tomatoes when you grow them yourself. Unless they are real mutants I just cut the scabby part out.

Hooray for the first tomato! I'm getting close too. One of my cherry tomatoes is starting to show color.
